 Getting to Himmafushi Island

 Located in North Male, Kaafu Atoll, Himmafushi Island is the closest local island to Velana International Airport. You have four options for reaching this surfer's paradise from Velana International Airport and from the Male City.

  • For a more convenient option, private speedboat charters are available, costing around USD 130 per way for a direct transfer from the airport/Male City to Himmafushi Island. These transfers can be easily arranged through us at the hotel for a seamless experience. 

  • Scheduled Speedboat Ferry: Speedboats ferries operate directly from both the airport and Malé City, taking approximately 20-30 minutes to reach Himmafushi Island.  

  • MTCC Ferry: For a more budget-friendly option, you can take the public ferry from Malé. The ferry departs from Hulhumale Ferry Terminal in Malé and takes around 45 minutes to reach Himmafushi Island.  The MTCC ferry operates daily except on Fridays, so be sure to check the latest schedule before your trip as timings may vary.  The schedule is updated on Click here  

  • Himmafushi Supply Boat: The supply boat operates daily except for Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays, departing from in front of the MMA. This budget-friendly option costs approximately US$ 3 per person, making it an affordable way to reach Himmafushi Island.

Importnat to know: 

  • There are three speedboat operators providing transfers to and from Himmafushi Island, each with its own schedule. Speedboat transfers typically cost between $10 to $25 per person, while the public ferry is much cheaper at around $3 per person. 

  • Online bookings are available for scheduled speedboat ferries and can be made via the website: https://naseebexpress.com/

  • Be mindful of luggage restrictions on the ferry, especially if you're carrying surfboards.

Getting to Himmafushi from other islands/Atolls. 

 Reaching Himmafushi from other islands or atolls in the Maldives is quite straightforward with a variety of transfer options available:

  • Speedboat Ferries 
  • Scheduled Boat ferries
  • Seaplane Transfers 
  • Domestic flight transfers 
  • Private Boat Charters

Many islands and resorts nearby offer direct speedboat transfers to Himmafushi. Depending on the distance, travel times typically range from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Reaching Further Atolls:

While Himmafushi offers easy access to nearby islands, reaching other atolls requires a bit more planning.

  • There are no direct speedboat transfers from Himmafushi to popular atolls such as South Ari Atoll (famous for whale sharks) or Baa Atoll (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), as well as other southern Maldives islands. To visit these atolls, you'll need to return to Velana International Airport (MLE) and take either a speedboat, seaplane, or domestic flight.

  • For connecting to the atolls in the deep south, the only option is via domestic flight, which we can assist you with booking for a seamless transfer.

 Tips for Getting Around in Himmafushi and accessing surfing breaks. 

The island’s compact size makes it easy to stroll around, discover local shops, and reach the beach. Bicycles are available for rent if you'd like a faster way to get around.  For your arrival and departure,  the hotels will take care of the transfer from/to Jetty in a Buggy.
